declutter your jerker desktop
i have yet to join the wireless bandwagon so i love this de-cluttering hack from van mardian. a few readers [thanks! aaron, kath, nicole] tipped me on this, so i'm guessing that this is going to be a favourite for many.

what's the secret?
van says, "actually, everything is mounted underneath using mdf pegboard and some wire.
the pegboard is suspended using these shackles and small wooden dowels. if i ever need to make changes, the pegboard can be easily removed simply by removing the five dowels."

nice. Was not sure what to do with my jerker after having it for just about 6 yrs, i gave to my bro since I was moving and had less use for it. Used to warn him that i was bestowing him with an illustrious desk. He didn't get it until now when he went looking for a pdf of the manual. Great hack!

If you are interested in having kids someday, you may want to check the emissions of some of that equipment! I'd worry that those power supplies are a bit close to my "equipment."
Talk to anyone with any real knowledge electro-magnetic fields and they will tell you that the power supplies will not effect your "equipment."

The decluttered look is appealing never mind the absence of occupational health and safety issues!
For the pegboard mod, I used eyelet screws (size 106) instead of the hasps. Hasps were like $3 per and the eyelets were 5 for $1.50. You also don’t need to use dowels to lock the pegboard in place. You can just twist the eyelet slightly and it locks with minimal effort.
