looking for a slim, good looking computer table?

marcus had no space for an ordinary computer desk in his living room because they were all too deep, like 60 cm+ (approx 2'). he needed a desk that could be minimized when not used.

marcus writes, "my room had lots of available width but only 40 centimeters depth (approx 16") that i could use. the only option was to make a custom computer desk.

i bought a malm bedside table in oak then i went to the hardware shop and bought roll-in roll-out 'lanes' for my keyboard shelf. the keyboard shelf was made from leftover parts from a pax closet. the malm wheels were removed because i didn't want any movement. this is the result."

thanks so much for this -- I've been trying to convince my partner to accept this idea, now that he's seen it, he loves it =)

Marcus,
That looks quite nice! Don't know why I didn't think of that for myself. Is it a bit "tippy" though if you bump into the keyboard tray when it's pulled out?

Wow, that's really handsome. What kind of chair are you using, and do you have a problem with bumping your knees against the wall?

Now it's time to get a more sleek computer case than that deep Antec clone.

The Malm Dressing Table is also an option...it's 2" deeper and a little bit higher.

It also comes with a pull out drawer as a plus.

this is brilliant, it looks so clean and classic, well done! I'm forwarding this to my partner now. I also love the lampshade... please tell where you got that?

Marcus here. The desk is not tippy at all because i removed the wheels. It stands rock solid. I have no problems coming too close to the wall. But I am only 172 cm tall, but i guess you must be pretty tall to have that problem. The original webpage-post can be found here:

What a superb idea. I have some LACK and EXPEDIT stuff, and my computer table isn't very cool. This idea is great! I'll have to test the stability in my nearby IKEA store, just because my computer table doesn't lean against a wall. And when it's not stable enough I'll have to do some more hacking :-)

i bought the Malm Dressing Table and it works just as great. the plus is that i am not as neat, so the drawer components in the dressing table allow me to stash away jewelry and other accessories that might accumilate on the table top.
