OmG, this is so awesome - love it! :)
What a amazing idea! The table looks so beautiful. Does the train spin around on the tracks as well?
Wow, my favorite hack yet!
This is so cool, I will defiantly make something like this for the fact that I love model trains
Wow Thats look more then fantactic Congratulation !!! just super
ummm, WOW
That is gorgeous!
wow, that's.... really cool.
This is one cool idea - I can see it being used as a kids train play area as well - with the wooden tracks you can buy from Ikea - it would keep the play nice and tidy.
when i saw the picture, i thought it was a ruler. hehe
Wow! Awesome! I've been looking for a way to incorporate a small train layout in my house (wife does not know this yet) and this might be the only way. Can we get more info? Is that N scale, or HO, or something else? Where is the power/transformer/controls? Is there a glass top? Dust management has been the biggest thing stopping me from making a permanent layout thus far. How long did that take? Thanks.
Hello Adam,
glad you like it. The whole thing (including decoration) is N scale. The power transformer/controls is under the table. The table has a glass top, so no cleaning needed. Took about two weeks to built it.

Which IKEA table is that? What is the depth on the inside?
The name of the IKEA table is "vinninga". The depth is 3,54 inches (9 cm).
I don't even love model trains, but I would be ENTRANCED by that table were I to encounter it! Nice job!
Beautiful, amazing. What an idea :D
wht a Coffee Table !!
Hey Steffen... This is an real work of art, congrats!
I wan tto build one too, been looking for a coffee table to suit, but Ikea no longer lists this table. What are the dimensions of the table - length and width?
Fantastic idea! I want one! Is the RAMVIK the right one for this now? Pity my trains are all HO size tho...
